About The Author: Hastings Bertrand Lees-Smith (1878 1941) was a British politician who transitioned from the Liberal Party to the Labour Party. In 1931, he briefly held a position in the cabinet as the President of the Board of Education. From 1940 until his passing, he served as the acting Leader of the Opposition and as the Leader of the Labour Party, holding the position of chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party.
