First impression of the true first edition. ***This copy SIGNED by Vera Brittain in ink on the title-page: 'Vera Brittain, Christmas 1965'. Also inscribed on the front free endpaper but not by the author [see scans]. ***Very good in sea-green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Head and tail of spine and corners slightly bumped. Boards clean and unmarked, except for a small mark to the front board. Interior pages clean. There is a small page defect, probably caused in production, that has creased and torn the very bottom of the pages near the spine affecting pages 70-76. [See scans] ***In a very good dustwrapper that has not been price-clipped, showing original publisher's price of 25s net. Slightly worn and creased at the extremities. Small loss to the top of the spine of the dustwrapper. Front and rear panels of dustwrapper bright. Some loss to the yellow colouring on the spine. It is the similarities, rather than the contrasts, which concern Vera Brittain.
