A lovely crisp copy in slightly faded and spotted non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with a lengthy crease to the spine panel, suggesting that at one point it was folded and stored within the book, and a fraction of loss from the head of the spine panel. Lewis' Minton article includes nine reproductions, two of which are reproduced in colour. Minton also contributes two illustrations to an advertisement for Everest Advertising Ltd, which appears on p.77. Other contributors include Geoffrey Grigson ('The Drawings of William Mulready'), Douglas Newton ('The Sculpture of Daphne Hardy'), Stuart Rose ('The Engravings of John O'Connor'), and John Summerson ('J. M. Gandy: Architectural Draughtsman'). A folding supplement broadsheet entitled 'Postscript to Image' summer 1949 laid-in, as issued. A very nice copy of this first issue of the influential visual arts periodical, which succeeded Harling's 'Alphabet and Image', and ran for a total of just eight issued published between the summers of 1949 and 1952.…
