Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Signature forgery still represents a great challenge to financial institutions, which makes accurate signature verification inevitable. On the other hand, computer technology and information processing areas witness remarkable qualitative improvements associated with significant costs reduction. This boosted the usage of machine vision techniques. In this research, an intensive work was carried out on offline signatures to establish a system for verifying them using their digital images. Signature morphological structure was utilized to explore characteristics associated with different signatures. Signature verification algorithms were developed using binary images of signatures employing two different verification approaches, one was based on statistical techniques, while the other was based on neural networks (NN) techniques. A signature database was built by collecting 840 signatures from 66 volunteers, and was used for training the statistical and NN classifiers and subsequently for testing purposes. Research results indicated that the statistical classifiers' outcomes were highly satisfactory whereas the NN classifiers' outcomes were not of the same quality.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 116 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Human Activity Recognition (HAR) is a multifaceted aspect of computer vision and machine learning, which encompasses group activity pattern discovery, interpersonal interaction analysis, human gesture and action recognition. It has proliferating demands from wide applications, such as visual surveillance and security, entertainment, healthcare systems, video indexing, human-computer interaction and video retrieval. So over the last decade, a diversity of approaches has been developed to investigate the HAR. We overcome their limitations by proposing new robust features and the algorithms to build the unified HAR framework. Features play a vital role in HAR. Global features are generated using the entire video sequence while ignoring explicit temporal information but they capture the oriented and holistic underlying patterns. We found that HAR can be improved by fusing extra temporal information with global representation.VDM Verlag, Dudweiler Landstraße 99, 66123 Saarbrücken 136 pp. Englisch.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Recently, the algorithms for the processing of the visual information have greatly evolved, providing efficient and effective solutions to cope with the variability and the complexity of real-world environments. These achievements yield to the development of Machine Vision systems that overcome the typical industrial applications, where the environments are controlled and the tasks are very specific, towards the use of innovative solutions to face with everyday needs of people. The Human-Centric Machine Vision can help to solve the problems raised by the needs of our society, e.g. security and safety, health care, medical imaging, and human machine interface. In such applications it is necessary to handle changing, unpredictable and complex situations, and to take care of the presence of humans.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 190 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The following are the proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Perception held in Pavia, Italy, on September 27-30, 1993, under the auspices of four institutions: the Group of Cybernetic and Biophysics (GNCB)s of the National Research Council (CNR), the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI \* IA), the Italian Association of Psychology (AlP), and the Italian Chapter of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). The theme of this third workshop was: 'Human and Machine Vision: Analogies and Divergencies.' A wide spectrum of topics was covered, ranging from neurophysiology, to computer architecture, to psychology, to image understanding, etc. For this reason the structure of this workshop was quite different from those of the first two held in Parma (1991), and Trieste (1992). This time the workshop was composed of just eight modules, each one consisting of two invited lectures (dealing with vision in nature and machines, respectively) and a common panel discussion (including the two lecturers and three invited panellists).
