XXII, 708, 694, IV, 685, [2]pp. 3/4 leather over buckram, with gold lettering and decoration on spine, and gold-stamped borders on covers. Raised bands. All edges gilt. Engraved frontispiece portrait of Reverend Thomas Scott on first volume. All three title-pages are steel-engraved. This fascinating Bible with commentary edited by Rev. Thomas Scott had the largest circulation and sustained it through many years. As a commentary Dr. Scott's work was superior to any that had appeared before its time. Horne, usually a discriminating judge, speaks of it in high praise (cf. his Manual of Biblical Bibliography, London, 1839, p. 259). This work is profusely illustrated with numerous full-page steel-engravings, each one with its caption. Some edge wear on bindings with rubbing along joints, corners and head and tail of spines. Sporadic foxing/browning throughout. Bindings and interior in overall good+ to very good condition.

Full contemporary black morocco, sides ruled with gilt roll tool border, spine with raised bands and decorative gilt compartments, gilt lettered title, gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Engraved title with contemporary hand-colour and 48 full-page engraved plates, including 24 chromolithographs, 23 monochrome after John Martin, Guercino, Frith et al. and 5 maps. Trivial scuffs to upper cover, minimal spotting, generally an excellent copy in a particularly bright binding.

Contemporary full maroon morocco, sides richly stamped in blind and with bold gilt border, spine with raised bands and gilt rules, gilt lettering to one compartment, brown coated endpapers. Richly illustrated with maps and plates after John Martin et al., including frontispiece and additional engraved title. With 2 leaves of partially used family register preceding New Testament. Some light spotting to endpapers and endpapers, generally an excellent copy in a handsome binding.
