With several black and white illustrations. The author of this novel, Mike Hawthorn, was also killed in a car accident near his home in Guildford the same year (1959), only three months after retiring from racing. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, generally smart. Shelf wear and sunning to the extremities and spine, particularly High Speed. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, with some fading to the spine and extremities. The contents, with spotting to the text block edges and prelims, are otherwise clean and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the near fine lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that is a little dustmarked and has a couple of very short closed tears.
