In den WarenkorbZustand: Fine in a fine jacket. GrandPré, Mary (illustrator). Later printing. Signed early printing of the US edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, with the slightly altered title (from "Philosopher's" to "Sorcercer's") and the vivid illustrations by Mary GrandPré. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's agitations against trans rights. This copy from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where this book was signed. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore more desirable. An excellent example of her early signature. 9'' x 6''. Original quarter red cloth, purple paper boards, gilt-lettered spine (no "Year 1"). In original unclipped ($17.95) color pictorial dust jacket with art by GrandPré. Dark green endpapers. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Grandpré. 21st printing. viii, 309, [1], [2] pages. Signed by Rowling in black ink on title page. Overall clean, bright, sharp, and tight.

In den WarenkorbEarly edition of the third novel in Rowlingâs acclaimed Harry Potter series; from the library of William Goldman. Octavo, original pictorial boards illustrated by Cliff Wright. In near fine condition with some toning throughout, very light bumping to the spine and extremities, and an ownership stamp to the dedication page, "From the library of William Goldman (1931-2018) jrg." William Goldman was an American novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. The amazing mind behind the Academy Award-winning thriller film 'All the President's Men' and the cult classic fantastical comedy 'The Princess Bride,' Goldman's skilled storytelling has helped form the backdrop of cinematic and literary culture for a generation. British novelist Joanne (J.K.) Rowlingâs Harry Potter series has swiftly become the best-selling book series of all time with over 500 million copies sold. Born in Yale, Gloucestershire, England, Rowling rose to multi-millionaire status from relative poverty within a five-year period which also saw the death of her mother, birth of her first child, and divorce from her first husband. Themes of loss and darkness prevail throughout the series, in which a young wizard, Harry Potter, develops his magical powers at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and heroically attempts to overthrow the evil and powerful Lord Voldemort. The third novel in the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban won the 1999 Whitbread Children's Book Award, the Bram Stoker Award, the 2000 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel, and was short-listed for other awards, including the Hugo. The story follows Harry in his third year at Hogwarts, which starts off on bad note when he learns that the legendary and deranged murderer Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban and is determined to end Harry's life. The film adaptation of the novel was released in 2004, grossing more than $796 million and earning critical acclaim. Directed by Alfonso Cuarà n from a screenplay by Steve Kloves, the film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

In den WarenkorbFirst paperback edition of the rarest book in the Harry Potter series, a cornerstone of young adult literature, and one of the best-selling books of all time. First printing with âFirst published in Great Britain in 1997â, the full number line â10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1â, âJoanne Rowlingâ for âJ.K. Rowlingâ, and âThomas Taylor1997â (lacking the space) on the copyright page and â1 wandâ listed twice (as the first item and last item) on the âOther Equipmentâ list on page 53. Octavo, original illustrated wrappers. With an original signed illustration by cover artist Thomas Taylor of Harry Potter on the dedication page. At the time of the bookâs publication in 1996, illustrator Thomas Taylor had just graduated from art school and was working at Heffers Childrenâs Bookshop in Cambridge. At Heffers, Taylor educated himself on the childrenâs book market and its major publishers and decided to submit a portfolio of his illustrations to the offices of Bloomsbury Publishing, including several drawings of dragons and wizards. Taylor heard back from Bloomsburyâs editor, Barry Cunningham (who had recently decided to take a chance on publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopherâs Stone after it had been rejected by twelve other publishers) almost immediately. Cunningham phoned him at Heffers and asked if he could create a design for the cover of a relatively unknown authorâs first book about a schoolboy wizard. He sent Taylor an incomplete manuscript of the book and, after two days, Taylor had a final product: a watercolor painting of a young Harry Potter with his lightning-bolt scar standing next to the Hogwarts Express on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. In very good condition with the wrappers laminated. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling's debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone follows Harry Potter, a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book was first published in the United Kingdom on June 26, 1997 by Bloomsbury and in the United States the following year by Scholastic Corporation under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book reached the top of the New York Times list of best-selling fiction in August 1999 and stayed near the top of that list for much of 1999 and 2000. It has sold in excess of 120 million copies, making it one of the best-selling books of all time. The majority of reviews of the popular book were favorable, revering Rowling's imagination, humor, simple, direct style and clever plot construction. Rowling's style has been compared to that of Jane Austen (her favorite author), Roald Dahl (whose works dominated children's stories before the appearance of Harry Potter), and even the Ancient Greek story-teller Homer. The first book in the series was followed by six sequels published on an annual basis between 1997 and 2000. The series has sold more that 500 million copies worldwide and has been âtranslated into 80 languages, âmaking it the best-selling book series in history and among history's most translated literary works.â The last four books in the series consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books of all time, where the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, sold roughly fifteen million copies worldwide within twenty-four hours of its release. With twelve million books printed in the first U.S. run, it also holds the record for the highest initial print run for any book in history. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was adapted into the 2001 fantasy film of the same name directed by Chris Columbus, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, and starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. Warner Bros. bought the film rights to the book in 1999 for a reported £1 million ($1.65 million) and the film was released in November 2001 in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada and Taiwan. It was a critical and commercial success, grossing $974 million at the box office worldwide during its initial run, and over $1 billion with subsequent re-releases. It became the highest-grossing film of 2001 and remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It was followed by seven sequels beginning with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002 and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows â" Part 2 in 2011, nearly ten years after the first film's release.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. 1st Edition. Extremely rare signed first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The book was signed by J.K. Rowling on the half-title page in the year of publication for a charity auction, where it was won by the previous owner, Rita, who preserved it for over two decades. In early 2025, the book was sold to Adam Houston, The Harry Potter Specialist. Signed copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are exceptionally scarce, as Rowling did not attend any public signing events around publication due to having recently given birth. The book is in very good condition, with sharp spine ends and corners. There is sun fading to the top edge of the front and rear board, and to the top of the spine. Internally, it is bright and clean, with no ownership inscriptions. The page edges are mildly tanned, as is typically seen. A few very light signs of use are visible along the fore-edge. A fine condition dust jacket has been married to the book. The original sun-faded jacket which protected the boards from further fading is included. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature. Also included is an informative collector's card with additional details. For preservation and display, this highly collectible book is housed in a beautiful custom-made half-leather clamshell box. A truly exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the rarest signed Harry Potter books. Signed by Author(s).

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first print. Flat-signed to the dedication page in black ink by the author. The book is in very good condition. Firm and square, with sharp corners, sharp boards, spine foot still largely firm, spine tip still firm; no marks to the text block which remains largely without toning, internally unmarked with no tears or dog-eared pages, book does not appear to have been read; the main issue is a crease to the bottom corner of the front free endpaper and a light diagonal crease across the same page, as well as a production fault: the bottom left-hand corner of the front pastedown endpaper has been folded under the endpaper at the time of printing. Otherwise, this book is in lovely condition. The dust jacket is not price-clipped and displays full colour to the spine. Some rippling to the top edge, otherwise fine. Signed by Author(s).
