Field who was a Law Stationer and an amateur local writer based in Stratford-on-Avon. His business records are preserved by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The book is very scarce having a very small p…rint run. The poem covers events from August 1914 (the invasion of Belgium) right up to November 1914 (Turkey entering the war). It captures a window of time when British writers still viewed the war through a lens of Victorian chivalry, imperial pride, and romanticism—just before the horrific trench warfare of 1915 permanently changed the tone of war poetry. Bound in the original printed paper wrapper, running to 8 printed pages. Covers lightly marked with some corner chipping, internally light creasing wear and mild marks else in good general condition.
