Encyclopedic work on the subject, with some emphasis on how it pertains to women. Goldmark was an important activist for labor law reform, child labor reform, and for the 8-hour day and minimum wage, and was instrumental in the passage of several reform laws. Her work with her brother-in-law Louis Brandeis, convinced the Supreme Court to declare that state maximum-hours laws were constitutional, and she was on the committee investigating the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. The bulky first edition is very uncommon, and despite some flaws, this is a better than usual copy.…
