Hardcover. Quarto, viii, 66 pages, [75 plates]. In Good minus condition. Half green leather and marbled paper boards, with gilt-lettered light brown leather spine labels. Boards show significant wear to corners and edge, splitting to leather along joints, moderate plus wear to edges and to boards overall. Boards slightly bowed. Tear to marbled end papers along front gutter, and front board and spine leather have pulled away from text block (but still attached). Text block has light age toning to edges, and moderate plus foxing to plates throughout interiorly. One prominent damp stain to frontispiece engraving. Volume I of a three-volume set, only. Illustrated half-title in volume 1, frontispiece in volume 2. Second edition of volume one with corrected plates. "Plans, elevations, sections, and parts at large; calculated to exemplify the various styles and the practical construction of this admired class of architecture; accompanied by historical and descriptive accounts" (title page). Complete with 224 plates: 75 plates, one in color, in volume I, 73 plates in volume II, and 76 plates and two woodcuts in volume III - Volume III contains History and antiquities of the Vicars' Close, Wells, Sommersetshire (London, 1836), The Manor House and Church at Great Chalfield, Wiltshire (London, 1837),the Manor House at South Wraxhall, and the Church of Saint Peter at Beddestone, Wiltshire (London, 1838). All bindings are heavily rubbed and all book blocks with foxing throughout. Binding of volume I with cover separated, spine with one and a half inch chip at head and closed tear in middle; spine attached to back cover with transparent tape. Ex-library. Usual library markings including stamp on inside cover (all three volumes). Book block loose with foxing and some water stains. Binding of volume II separated but for the back joint, same for volume III. Here in addition a two inch chip at top of spine. Binding copy. Binding and interior in overall poor condition.

Zustand: Good. The second edition, with corrected plates, complete in three hardback volumes. 4to (30cm by 24cm), xviii, 66pp; xxiv, 63pp; xvii, 93pp. 223 plates (75 in volume 1, 72 in volume 2, 76 in volume 3). Uniformly and attractively bound in half brown crushed morocco, purple cloth boards, gilt titling and raised bands to the spines, marbled page edges and endpapers. Boards rubbed, bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume, scattered foxing of the contents, gift inscription to each volume. Overall, this is a good to very good set in attractive, solid bindings.
