Light signs of wear to the extremities and joints, strong and solid; internally clean, decorated endpapers, inscribed by Ungerer to the verso of the front flyleaf: "For Edward, Tomi Ungerer.", a little thumbing to the page edges; in a clean bright dustjacket with some light marginal wear, and an unfortunate closed tear to the upper edge of the rear panel, which has been neatly and archivally mended on verso. A very good inscribed copy. A physically enormous, and artistically diverse retrospective of Ungerer's career creating challenging erotic art. Over 200 published illustrations appearing alongside 200+ previously unpublished pieces. Ungerer's erotic work, although distinctive and often controversial only makes up a small proportion of his lifetime contribution to pushing the boundaries in numerous fields of art including children's books, autobiographical pieces etc. amounting to 140 titles published during his life.
