Church library stamp on both free endpapers. Fold-out map of Missionary Tours of the Apostle Paul as frontispiece. The map has been previously repaired with old tape. It has since been removed, and map has been made usable with archival tape to edges and fold tears. Old tape has stained the Mediterranean Sea and North Africa, but it is there. A very nice binding, internally clean. Size: 5 3/4" x 3 3/4".

Clamshell slipcase smart, slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to morocco. Slight rubbing to boards. Previous owner's contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves, with one or two spots to fore edge. Very Good Indeed. book.

Engraved half-title, 2 title pages, 2 frontispieces, illustrated with 6 maps(some folding) 7 engravings, and 1 folding chart, all bound in original green morocco elaborately decorated in gilt, raised bands with compartments gilt decorated, yellow endpapers, all edges gilt. A lovely little copy showing on very minor spots of rubbing to joints and edges, and a few ocassional spots of foxing, contemporary owner's name.

Full Leather. Zustand: Very Good binding. A most attractive Bagster Bible in a signed binding of embossed dark green morocco; raised bands with titling in gilt; dentelle turn-ins; printed on "Bible paper" with all edges gilt. Bagster's monumental "Biblia Sacra Polyglotta Basteriana" appeared between 1817 and 1828 with most copies of the four volume edition being destroyed by fire. Bagster carried on, issuing different texts and transtlations in various combinations. This copy in French and English, on facing pages. Very Good binding.

Tooled ornamentation on 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. All edges gilt. Gilt dentelles on all edges. Pasted and free brown endpapers. , A combination of selected Prayers, Rites and Ceremonies of the United Chirch of England and Ireland with a complete English version of the Polyglott Bible. Printed in double columns. There is no stated date of publication but an inscription on the verso of the front flyleaf is dated 1862. The inscription is a dedication from A godmother to her godson. , Size : 12mo (143x90mm). , The book is illustrated with 4 colour maps (1 of them is a double page map) of various important regions and cities that are mentioned in the Bible. A fine and handsome example of this work in full decorative tooled morocco.

Approximately 1,300 pages. Text printed in two columns with notes in between. Full contemporary calf, both boards with a simple gilt border, gilt decoration along the spine creating three compartments with trapezoidal negative spaces in which are repeated gilt lozenge devices, save for the middle compartment which has "Polyglott Bible" in gilt, modest gilt ornamentation along the corners of the fore edges of both boards, page edges lightly marbled, and marbled endpapers. Owner name of Jonathan Thayer on the first front flyleaf. Boards worn, corners and spine ends bumped, and scattered foxing throughout, still very good with the hinges sound and the gilt along the spine remaining bright. Contains the family record of Elijah Thayer and Sarah Robinson who were married in 1768. Together they had 12 children, one of whom was Jonathan, born January 2, 1779. A note at the bottom of the first family records page states that they were all born in Milford, Massachusetts. This means they are likely part of the same Thayer clan of "Boston Brahmin" notoriety. Jonathan's daughter, whom he named after his mother, married Ephraim K. Smart, who was born in Massachusetts but became a representative of Maine in Congress. Laid in is a torn piece of paper with barely intelligible writing recording family deaths. A nice example of an early 19th century binding with an intriguing family history deserving of further study.

An early octavo edition of Bagster's polyglot bible, first published in 1816, in an attractive period binding (possibly original). The binding has some light edgewear and there is a scuff mark to the upper front cover. The text is very good with some light soiling and an early ink owner's name at front.
