Elle est imprimée en caractères de civilité et illustrée de 18 gravures, la plupart à pleine page (14 sont gravées sur cuivre et 4 sur bois). Philippe Danfrie (1531-1606) a gravé lui-même ces caractères et a également dessiné et gravé l'illustration de ce bel ouvrage. Le graphomètre, un demi-cercle, est un instrument de son invention. "Tel que l'a décrit Danfrie, et tel qu'il l'a réalisé, pour l'essentiel, le graphomètre a connu une carrière de deux siècles. . Nous ne connaissons pas d'instrument semblable antérieur à 1597, et il ne paraît pas que le graphomètre ait été décrit sous d'autres noms avant ou après cette époque". (Daumas). Philippe Danfrie (1531-1606) engraved the civilité type used in this book. The 'graphometre', an instrument used by surveyors, is his invention. It has been in use for two centuries. "We do not know of any similar instrument prior to 1597, and it does not appear that the graphometer was described under any other name before or after that time". (Daumas).
