The Simmons family were friends of Hilton and H.G.Wells. Hilton used to stay regularly with the Simmonses. Her husband Thomas Simmons was an educational scientist and a friend of H.G.Wells whose creation of Mr Polly was based on him. Dawn of Reckoning was made into the 1940 film, Rage in Heaven the book's American title. Original publisher's red cloth lettered gilt at the spine. Sond about vg copy with slight dullness at spine, faint wear and some slight foxing at prelims and occasional page edges. The front endpaper has part of the original colour jacket pasted to it showing a bewigged lawyer pointing an accusing finger at a woman in the dock. Signedes.
