First edition, 8vo (205 x 125 mm), vii, [1], 358pp., lower blank margin of title neatly repaired, coloured frontispiece of a double-acting steam engine, and 13 folding lithographic plates, marbled endpapers, later nineteenth century morocco, decorated in blind, all edges gilt, upper cover spotted otherwise a very nice copy. A second part dealing with Magnetism, Electricity, Optics and Astronomy, was proposed but was never published.
