Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Embossed orange paper over boards, marbled end papers, accordion folded paper with an illustrated title page and thirty hand-colored plates. Light wear to extremities, covers lightly stained, a couple of instances of foxing/minor staining on interior, generally in very good condition with bright colors. 12°. Gestochener kolorierter Titel und 30 kolorierte Tafeln als Leporello. Schlichtes Halbleinen in Originalschuber, (Rücken erneuert, leicht beschabt, Schuber etwas stärker). Hiler 198; vgl. Lipperheide Jbb 22 (anderer Titel von Bertini). - Sehr schöne altkolorierte und teils goldgehöhte Tafeln mit Darstellungen verschiedener Papstgewänder, Gewänder von Kardinälen, Sekretären, Bischöfen, Kammerherren, Mönchen, usw. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die 5 Tafeln mit unterschiedlichen Uniformen der Schweizer Garde. Das Titelblatt zeigt den gerade neu gewählten Papst Pius IX. - Minimal fleckig.

Engr., illustrated t. p. and 30 engr. plates, c. 106 x 75 mm. In original hand colour throughout, raised in gilt. Stored loosely in custom-made red morocco case with gilt spine. Fine, complete series of costumes as worn by the Roman Curia. The title page depicts the newly-crowned Pius IX (Pope from 1846 to 1878); several other plates also show the Holy Father in splendid garments as well as in his private robes. Other plates show Cardinals, Bishops, priests, chamberlains, lesser member of the clergy, and the Swiss Guard. - Traces of mounting on reverse, otherwise very attractively preserved throughout. - Hiler 198. Teils etwas braun- oder fingerfleckig. Das Titelblatt mit Portrait Pius' IX., der 1846 ins päpstliche Amt kam, von Mochetti und Bertini. Die Tafeln mit Trachten von Kardinälen, Bischöfen, Prälaten usw., aber auch der Schweizer Garde. Sprache: Deutsch.

Umrißradierung bei T. Cusccioni, Rom, um 1820, je 8,5 x 6,5 cm (Einzeltracht mit Inschrift) bzw. 26 x 38 cm (Einfassungslinie). Im Papier insgesamt leicht gebräunt.
