Hardcover. Zustand: Fair - Cash. *** 1830 PRINTING *** Well Worn Brown leather, the title done on the spine in fading gold gilt, with a dark red background. Corners bumped, showing the boards underneath. Spine has creases. All corners are worn, have bumps and scuffs, the binding has become loose on the inside of the back cover. The outer edges of the pages have a gray/brown hue to them, the inside of the pages have foxing throughout and there's wobbling from water damage, but the pages are still intact. Page 360-361 you can see the string of the binding. All illustrations are done in black and white. A small name plate can be found on the inside of the front cover, 'S. Trask no. 39' with the quote 'There's no such word as fail.' A Very interesting and informative piece. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.

Greene (1826) on front pastedown and title page. Dampstains to first pages and front endpapers stuck together. Foxing throughout. The physician William Potts Dewees (1768 1841) was best known for his work in obstetrics, being described in American Medical Biographies as "so famous that no parturient woman of the time considered herself safe in other hands." This book introduced ideas from British and continental European physicians, especially Jean-Louis Baudelocque, and became the standard reference on obstetrics in the United States for a time.
