Blind-stamped green cloth covers clean and minimally worn, sl.sp.end & corner rubbing only, textured cloth with multiple blind-stamped border lines. An important and pioneering work by this modest English solicitor-turned-anthropologist (1835-1910) who died in poverty in Chicago. The best account of him is Rodney Needham's Introduction to his 1967 re-issue of Wake's 1889 'Development of Marriage and Kinship'. The phrase 'comparative psychology' refers to comparison between peoples, not, as now, between humans and animals. …
