This is a book about sea shanties and includes their lyrics and musical notation, as well as a discussion about their history and usage. A good copy of this blue cloth hardback with scarce dustjacket. The dustjacket is rather grubby with toned spine and some small nibbles and tears. The blue cloth hardback is slightly cocked and some spotted marks on front and rear. Some tone marks to first and last endpapers. Text is very good throughout - nice and clean, and includes lovely woodcuts by Freda Bone. She was the daughter of the author, Sir David William Bone (1874-1959), a Scottish Commodore. Woodcut pages have tissue guards and are of really high quality. Also contains a number of original loose faber advertising flyers which were issued with the book. 160pp. Dimensions: Approximately 218mm high x 167mm wide x 20mm deep. Weight approximately 506g unpacked. More photos on request.
