Inscription to front endpaper. Boards have slight shelf with bumping to corners. Spine ends are a little crushed with light tanning. Boards are slightly bowed. Prominent forward lean to text block. The unclipped dust jacket has moderate edge wear, tears and chips to edges and spine ends. Moderate tanning to spine and edges. Considerable loss to jacket edges and corners.

First edition, first printing. Original red cloth with black titles to the spine and an illustration in black to the upper board, in dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Mary Smith. A lovely near fine copy, the binding square and tight, the cloth clean and fresh. Rhe contents, with faint offsetting to the endpapers and a little very light spotting to the text block edges, are otherwise clean and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with thelightly rubbed and nicked illustrated dustwrapper that has has a couple of short closed tears to the edges. Not price clipped (8s. 6d. net to the front flap). A lovely copy.
