The boundary of Boston and of the suburbs are delineated in thick red, and transit lines outlined in fine red. Parks, cemeteries, golf and country clubs, and playgrounds are colored in green. Streets, waterways and ponds, islands, train stations, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other points of interest are labeled. There is an inset of the Winthrop Extension along the center right margin, and another of the Quincy Extension in the lower right. Dissected into 16 and backed with linen, with grommets for hanging. In very good condition, with minor abrasions below title, and overall toning.

Map. Lithograph with hand coloring. Measures 24 1/4 x 21 3/4 ". Original brown buckram case with gold title, publisher notes printed inside yellow paste down. Cover not attached. Some wear along original folds, with some loss to border upper right, otherwise in good condition. 1868. Scarce case map of Boston and surround with relief shown by hachures. Horse railroads noted. Published at the Boston Map Store with original booklet attached. Oriented with north toward the lower right. Edward Payson Dutton (1831-1923) was a prominent American book publisher. In 1852, Dutton founded the E. P. Dutton bookselling company in Boston, Massachusetts.
