Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Heavy cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Binding loose. Previous owner's name to front pastedown. Some dioramas have pieces missing and tape repairs. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and rubbing to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces very heavily tanned, particularly spine which is heavily worn. Some additional marks and staining to surfaces. Book has strong backwards lean.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. A charming mid-20th Century 3d Pop-up book for children, with 5 working models, complete. Bookano Stories No. 17; With Pictures That Spring Up in Model Form. Edited and Produced by S. Louis Giraud, M.R.S.L. Published by Bookano Strand Publications Ltd, London. Undated, but c. 1950. A good hardback copy of a delightful book. Covers are printed paper over boards with slight bumping and rubbed to edges, including spine.  Top edge of text block with some light spotting and age toning. Text is bright and clear throughout, but with light age toning to page edges. No owner's inscriptions or marks. The black and white text pages are bright and clear with some age toning, a few thumbmarks and occasional spotting. The coloured endpapers and pop-ups are nice and vibrant.  All 5 of the 'Living Models' are present, and are in very good condition. The pop-ups have a few minor flaws, but really very nice to find in this condition. Text pages with gaps at the gutter between gatherings (as is commonplace in books in this series, due to their 'lie-flat' nature. There is a loose 'Warning Slip' still present, about protecting the Tower of London model. Text in English.  Pages unnumbered.  Weight approximately 506g (unpacked).  Approximate dimensions: 220mm high x 175mm wide x 27mm deep. More photos available on request.

Thick card pages (36) printed on both sides, collated complete with all 6 pop-ups in good working order, a few parts neatly repaired without any loss. Two full-page text illustrations and 8 of the head or tail-pieces lightly coloured in crayon by a previous owner (Montanaro pp 34-5). 1 volume. Hardcover.

Minor wear; somewhat rolled; spine sunned and extremities mildly softened; boards a little rubbed with some minor bumping; text block and page edges mildly toned; all pop-ups working and in very good repair. No dustwrapper, as issued. Very good. An interesting survivor from the 1940s: the pop-up of the "Fairy Cottage" contains a working example of a Pepper's Ghost illusion, creating the spectral image of a flying fairy inside the cottage.

Louis Giraud.This edition contains five complete and functioning pop-ups, as well as one lacking. Externally generally smart, with some bumping to extremities and rubbing to the spine resulting in loss to the paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. One pop up is sadly lacking. Good. book.
