Johann Albert Fabricius (1668-1736) was the leading classical philologist of his time and the author of many useful bibliographical works such as Bibliotheca Latina (1697), Bibliotheca Antiquaria (1713), Bibliotheca Ecclesiastica (1718), and his most important work, Bibliotheca Graeca (1705-1728). The present definitive edition was edited by G. C. Harless. Its divisions are marked off by Homer, Plato, Jesus, Constantine, the capture of Constantinople in 1453, while a sixth section is devoted to canon law, jurisprudence, and medicine.
