In den WarenkorbFirst edition, first printing. Bookplate inscribed by the author loosely laid in. Paperback original. A better than very good copy, the covers a little rubbed and creased to the extremities. The contents, toned as always given the quality of the paper stock used in production, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. The bookplate of the artist Anthea Lewis is inscribed in black ink by the author, reading "Sincere regards / Frederick Forsyth", and loosely laid in. The author's first book, written while he was still working as a journalist. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. In den WarenkorbFirst British edition of the author's classic work. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the dedication page, "For Professor and Mrs Cameron. With all my best wishes, from 'Deny' Freddie Forsyth." Near fine in a very good dust jacket, tape marks to the front free endpaper. Jacket design by Michael Brett. Accompanied by a first British edition of The Biafra Story, about Biafra's unsuccessful attempt to secede from Nigeria. Octodecimo, original pictorial wrappers. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page. In very good condition with sunning to the spine, bumping and rubbing to the extremities, toning. Also accompanied by five lengthy typed autograph letters, one typed note, and one card signed by the author; with one typed letter signed by Forsyth's wife, all addressed to "David." The pieces are in very good condition. Rare and desirable. Frederick Forsyth, a British journalist and novelist, is renowned for his meticulous research and political thrillers. The Odessa File is a historical thriller centered on a journalist uncovering a secret Nazi organization, ODESSA, that aids former SS officers in escaping justice. The novel blends fiction with real historical events, reflecting Forsythâs investigative approach. A movie adaptation of the same name was released in 1974 starring Jon Voight and directed by Ronald Neame with a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Biafra Story, on the other hand, is a nonfiction account of the Nigerian Civil War (1967â"1970), based on Forsythâs firsthand experiences as a war correspondent. The book exposed atrocities committed against the secessionist Biafran state, challenging official narratives and demonstrating Forsythâs commitment to political and historical truth. Both works illustrate his ability to merge journalism with storytelling, creating compelling narratives grounded in reality.
