Basilisk Press Limited, London, 1979 to 1988; folio, 195 x 265mm; pp ranging from 44 to 76; titles listed are well described in detail and there are occasional illustrations in the text; attractively produced catalogues with the covers in various muted shades and the catalogue texts in brown ink on cream paper; slight marking on occasion but generally in near fine condition. . . . . . Included is an envelope of miscellaneous additional material - a couple of typescript notes from Charlene Garry (one of the founders), a printed invitation to a reception on the publication of the Kelmscott Press facsimile and a reference to the work on Humpphrey Repton, and a detailed comment on the production of the facsimile of Ferdinand Bauer's "The Australian Flower Paintings" explalining some of the technical issues relevant to the printing by Lunc Humpries . . . . . . The Basilisk Press started in 1974 as a publisher of fine press limited editions, duly expanded and in 1977 opened a book shop selling not only their own publications but also private press, limited edition and other finely produced books from other publishers mainly in the UK but with some from elsewhere in Europe, north America and Australia. Do not confuse this, the original Basilisk Press, with the eponymous US company selling political material of various kinds. . . . . . NOTE that as the catalogues together weigh almost 1.5kg the item may require a carriage supplement for overseas (though not domestic UK) orders.
