There is some rubbing and marking of the boards, the staples in the binding are rusting, there is an ownership inscription to the front endpapers, and some foxing of the contents. Professionally re-backed with library binding, reinforced corners and decorative endpapers. Boards have wear; light damp-staining to top edge of a few pages (not affecting text block or plates); final text page is browned. Binding is tight and contents are generally clean and bright. Very scarce. Honor Charlotte Appleton (18791951) was a British illustrator of over 150 children's books and literary classics.
