Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Hailed as 'one of the most important contributions to the social and intellectual history of England which has ever been made by a Cambridge man', Robert Willis monumental architectural history of the University of Cambridge is here reprinted. Its unique collection of over three hundred plans, antique and specially commissioned engravings is alone sufficient to make this an indispensable work of reference on Cambridge architecture before the onset of the modern age. This selection from the Architectural History presents in a single volume the complete text relating to Peterhouse and features a new introduction by David Watkin, Professor Emeritus in the History of Architecture at the Department of Art History at Cambridge University. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Zustand: Good. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A good condition book. No edition listed so potentially first. Light rubbing to quarter leather binding but it remains hardy and solid. Pages have been thumbed through but the majority remain clean and unmarked by dust or handling. Occasional light foxing throughout that becomes more prevalent on the tissue overlays. Fold-outs are tidy and uncreased with crisp and unfaded print. A handsome and well-kept copy all in all.

Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A very heavy volume printed on coated paper that may require additional postage for destinations outside of the USA. Volume 1 in the series. "Robert Willis's monumental architectural history of the University of Cambridge, first published in 1886 in a revised and extended edition by his nephew J. W. Clark, was hailed as 'one of the most important contributors to the social and intellectual history of England which has ever been made by a Cambridge man'. The three illustrated text volumes are now reprinted for the first time, in their entirety, with new introductory material in Volume 1 by David Watkin. Although 'Willis and Clark' has always been recognised by architectural historians as one of the greatest studies of the buildings of a single historic city, its wider importance and status have been recognised only more recently by those interested generally in the conservation of buildings and in the historic development of architectural style and taste. Its unique collection of over three hundred plans, antique and specially commissioned engravings is alone sufficient to make this the one indispensable work of reference on Cambridge architecture before the onset of the modern age.
