The initials 'R.H.' provide the clue to the author of this instructional work, generally attributed to Robert Howlett. Amongst the subjects covered are baits, tackle-making and "how the angler may lawfully defend himself if wrongfully disturbed in his Angling". First Edition. Small 8vo. viii + 296pp. 2 engraved frontispieces. Calf binding with geometric pattern to front and back boards, rubbed, rebacked long ago. Browning throughout, o/w good. Scarce. [W&S, p110-11].
