Climate is a major factor affecting the profitability of rural enterprises in this state. Better knowledge of weather and climate could assist the farmers in the state in making more effective use of resources such as labour capital water etc. However like thousands of farmers across the globe the farmers in this state are also finding it hard to come to terms with the deteriorating conditions in agricultural sector marked by rising cost of cultivation and depleting ground water resources. So for scores of debt ridden small and marginal farmers there appears to be no respite from the techniques that are already available. The sufferings are unending. They are caught in the vicious circle of mounting debts and failed crops due to weather related disasters. These disasters include drought untimely rains hot and desicating winds hail storms etc. Therefore the income to the farmers in reducing substantially due to these weather abnormalities/aberrations.
