KI 2005 was part of the International Conference Summer Koblenz 2005, which included conferences covering a broad spectrum of topics that are all related to AI: tableau-based reasoningmethods (TABLEAUX), multi-agent s- tems (MATES), automated reasoningand knowledgerepresentation(FTP), and software engineering and formal methods (SEFM). The Program Committee received 113 submissions from 22 countries. Each paperwasreviewedbythreereferees;afteranintensivediscussionabouttheb- derline papers during the online meeting of the Program Committee, 29 papers were accepted for publication in this proceedings volume. The program included three outstanding keynote talks: Ian Horrocks (U- versityofManchester,UK),LucSteels(UniversityofBrusselsandSony)and- bastian Thrun (Stanford University), who covered topics like logical foundation, cognitive abilities of multi-agent systems and the DARPA Grand Challenge. KI 2005 also included two excellent tutorials: Techniques in Evolutionary Robotics and Neurodynamics (Frank Pasemann, Martin Hulse, Ste en Wis- mann and Keyan Zahedi) and Connectionist Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (Barbara Hammer and Pascal Hitzler). Many thanks to the tu- rial presenters and the tutorial chair Joachim Hertzberg. Peter Baumgartner, in hisroleasaworkshopchair,collected11workshopsfromallareasofAIresearch, whichalsoincludes ameeting ofthe GermanPriorityProgramonKooperierende Teams mobiler Roboter in dynamischen Umgebungen. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The 18th conference of the Canadian Society for the Computational Study of Intelligence (CSCSI) continued the success of its predecessors. This set of - pers re ects the diversity of the Canadian AI community and its international partners. AI 2005 attracted 135 high-quality submissions: 64 from Canada and 71 from around the world. Of these, eight were written in French. All submitted papers were thoroughly reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee. A total of 30 contributions, accepted as long papers, and 19 as short papers are included in this volume. We invited three distinguished researchers to give talks about their current research interests: Eric Brill from Microsoft Research, Craig Boutilier from the University of Toronto, and Henry Krautz from the University of Washington. The organization of such a successful conference bene ted from the coll- oration of many individuals. Foremost, we would like to express our apprec- tion to the Program Committee members and external referees, who provided timely and signi cant reviews. To manage the submission and reviewing process we used the Paperdyne system, which was developed by Dirk Peters. We owe special thanks to Kellogg Booth and Tricia d'Entremont for handling the local arrangementsandregistration.WealsothankBruceSpencerandmembersoft he CSCSI executive for all their e orts in making AI 2005 a successful conference.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This volume collects the papers selected for presentation at the IX Congress of the Italian Association for Arti cial Intelligence (AI\*IA), held in Milan at the University of Milano-Bicocca (September 21-23, 2005). On the one hand this congress continues the tradition of AI\*IA in organizing its biannual s- enti c meeting from 1989; on the other hand, this edition is a landmark in the involvement of the international community of arti cial intelligence (AI), directly involving a broad number of experts from several countries in the P- gramCommittee. Moreover, the peculiar nature of scienti c researchin arti cial intelligence (which is intrinsically international) and several consolidated int- national collaborations in projects and mobility programs allowed the collection and selection of papers from many di erent countries, all around the world, enlarging the visibility of the Italian contribution within this research eld. Arti cial intelligence is today a growing complex set of conceptual, theor- ical, methodological, and technological frameworks, o ering innovative com- tational solutions in the design and development of computer-based systems. Within this perspective, researchers working in this area must tackle a broad range of knowledge about methods, results, and solutions coming from di erent classical areas of this discipline. The congress was designed as a forum allowing researchers to present and discuss specialized results as general contributions to AI growth.
