Oktober 1945 in Nürnberg[2]) ist ein deutscher Schauspieler, Schlagersänger, Drehbuchautor und Schriftsteller. Maien war durch seine Eltern schon früh mit künstlerischem Schaffen vertraut, seine Mutter war Pianistin, sein Vater Maler und Grafiker. Sowohl sein Bruder als auch seine Schwester und er selbst haben künstlerische Berufe ergriffen. Nach der Mittleren Reife an einem Münchner Gymnasium besuchte er die Otto-Falckenberg-Schule. Den Unterhalt für seinen Schauspielunterricht verdiente er sich als Kabelträger. Nach dem erfolgreichen Abschluss begann seine Karriere 1965 mit Wälsungenblut unter der Regie von Rolf Thiele[3] Er übernahm in dem Film nach der gleichnamigen Erzählung von Thomas Mann die männliche Hauptrolle Sigmund. Thema des Films ist inzestuöse Liebe. Der Film wurde auf der Berlinale gezeigt, sorgte wegen seiner Thematik für einen Skandal und wurde erst für Zuschauer ab 18 Jahren freigegeben.[4] Im Mai 1965 wurde Maien für seine erste Rolle der Medienpreis Bambi verliehen, in der Kategorie ?Bester deutscher Nachwuchsschauspieler? Parallel zur Filmarbeit begann er 1966 eine Schlagerlaufbahn und trat mit Schlagern wie Ich kann keine Mädchen weinen sehen*[5] in diversen Fernsehsendungen wie Musik aus Studio B und Die Drehscheibe auf. In der Jugendzeitschrift BRAVO erschienen zahlreiche Berichte über ihn. Andere Singles folgten (Ich mach alle Lichter an; Immer wieder nein), die alle im legendären Aufnahmestudio des Hotel Esplanade in Berlin eingespielt wurden. Die Single Wirf den Schlüssel aus dem Fenster und die B-Seite Träumst du wie ich vom großen Glück wurden sehr häufig in der Sendung Der aktuelle Plattenteller vom Deutschlandfunk gespielt. Zuvor spielte der Deutschlandfunk diesen Schlager wiederholt bei den Neuvorstellungen am Sonntag. Dennoch blieb ein Charterfolg mit dieser Single aus. Ich kann keine Mädchen weinen sehen blieb sein einziger Charterfolg. Da die deutschen Musikproduktionen wegen der anglo-amerikanischen Musikinvasion in die Krise gerieten, und auch der Kinofilm seine Talfahrt begann, drehte Maien erste Fernsehfilme und die ebenfalls von Thiele gedrehte Komödie Grieche sucht Griechin neben Heinz Rühmann. Seine nächste Aufmerksamkeit erregende Hauptrolle übernahm Maien 1968 in dem Aufklärungsfilm Das Wunder der Liebe II nach einem Drehbuch von Oswalt Kolle, in dem er neben Petra Perry die männliche Hauptfigur des ?Michael? verkörpert; der äußerst erfolgreiche Film verstärkte Maiens Popularität und erhielt die Goldene Leinwand. Einen weiteren Film dieses Genres drehte er 1970 mit dem Kolle-Film Dein Mann, das unbekannte Wesen. Parallel dazu übernahm Maien zahlreiche Rollen in Sexkomödien im Stil der Zeit mit Filmtiteln wie Ritter Orgas muss mal wieder oder Unterm Röckchen stößt das Böckchen. 1970 spielte er außerdem neben Curd Jürgens und Brigitte Mira in dem Kriminalfilm Das Stundenhotel von St. Pauli (Regie: Rolf Olsen). Gastauftritte hatte er in der ZDF-Krimiserie Der Kommissar (Episoden: Das Messer im Geldschrank, 1969, als Juri Brandic, der jüngere Bruder des staatenlosen Barbesitzers Mirko Brandic, an der Seite von Lukas Ammann; Domanns Mörder, 1974). 1972 übernahm er die männliche Hauptrolle in Hochzeitsnacht-Report (Regie: Hubert Frank, Produktion: Artur Brauner) neben Ingrid Steeger. Daneben arbeitete Maien weiter fürs Fernsehen und übernahm auch Rollenangebote aus dem Ausland. Ein Film mit seiner Mitwirkung, der deutsch-britische Exploitation-Horrorfilm Hexen bis aufs Blut gequält (auch Mark of the Devil) stand in Deutschland bis 2017 auf dem Index[6] und gilt bei Kennern des Genres vor allem in den USA als Kultfilm.[7] Danach drehte er u. a. in Italien In der Glut des Mittags (1970) (La salamandra del deserto) und L?occhio nel labirinto (1972). Mit dem Kinosterben Mitte der 1970er Jahre wechselte Maien als Schauspieler zum Theater und ins Fernsehen: Zwischen 1977 und 1987 war er mehrfach in Episoden der Krimiserien Derrick und Der Alte zu sehen. Danach zog er sich auch aus dem Fernsehgeschäft zurück. Bereits in den 1960er Jahren hatte Maien versucht, als Drehbuchautor Fuß zu fassen, hatte bei Drehbüchern als Co-Autor gewirkt und Skripte für Vorfilme erstellt, die auch in die Kinos kamen. Seit den späten 1970er Jahren war Maien als Kolumnist und Autor für Kulturzeitschriften in seinem Wohnort Düsseldorf tätig. Seit 1996 lebt er als freier Schriftsteller und tritt bei Lesungen vornehmlich im Raum Düsseldorf in Erscheinung. In seinem Schlüsselroman Der süße Duft des Abschieds, der im Filmmilieu seiner aktiven Zeit spielt, lässt er Stars wie Horst Buchholz, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Rock Hudson, Curd Jürgens, Klaus Kinski, Sophia Loren und Romy Schneider auftreten. Oktober 1985 in Marina del Rey, Kalifornien) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, der in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren seine größten Erfolge feierte, unter anderem in den Melodramen von Douglas Sirk und in Filmkomödien an der Seite von Doris Day.[1] Hudson sorgte 1985 zusammen mit dem jungen Aktivisten Ryan White für die Vervielfachung der US-amerikanischen AIDS-Berichterstattung. Er starb als einer der ersten Prominenten an den Folgen der Krankheit.[2] Rock Hudson wurde 1925 in Illinois geboren. Er war das einzige Kind der Telefonistin Katherine Wood und des Automechanikers Roy Harold Scherer. Nachdem er die Highschool beendet hatte, diente er im Zweiten Weltkrieg bei der US Navy als Mechaniker. Als er nach Ende des Krieges in seine Heimat zurückkehrte, knüpfte er erste Kontakte zur Filmindustrie. 1948 erhielt er seine erste Rolle in dem Kriegsfilm Fighter Squadron, wurde aber im Vor- und Abspann nicht erwähnt. Da Hudson eine sportlich muskulöse Statur besaß, wurde er vor allem in Western der 1950er Jahre besetzt, so etwa an der Seite von James Stewart in Winchester ?73. Hudson war in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren Hauptdarsteller in vielen Filmen. Seine Rollen waren vorwiegend die des smarten Liebhabers, Frauenhelden und Ehemannes. Nach den Western waren es zuerst Melodramen, mehrfach unter der Regie von Douglas Sirk. Einer seiner bekanntesten Filme war Giganten unter der Regie von George Stevens mit Elizabeth Taylor und James Dean. Ab 1959 spielte er an der Seite von Doris Day in den Filmkomödien Bettgeflüster (1959, für dessen Soundtrack er auch sang), Ein Pyjama für zwei (1961) und Schick mir keine Blumen (1964). Einen weiteren Erfolg in dieser Sparte hatte er gemeinsam mit Paula Prentiss in Ein Goldfisch an der Leine (1964). Jedoch konnte Hudson in den nächsten Jahren nicht wieder an diese Erfolge anknüpfen. Bis in die 1980er Jahre wirkte er noch in einigen Filmproduktionen und US-Fernsehserien mit; so im dystopischen Science-Fiction-Film Der Mann, der zweimal lebte und in der Detektivserie McMillan & Wife sowie 1980 im Spielfilm Mord im Spiegel nach einer Romanvorlage von Agatha Christie, in dem Hudson neben Tony Curtis und Elizabeth Taylor auftrat. Rock Hudson war homosexuell.[3][4][5][6][7] Von 1955 bis 1958 war er mit Phyllis Gates (1925-2006) verheiratet. Sie war die Sekretärin des Hollywood-Agenten Henry Willson, der auch Hudson vertrat. Zwei Jahre nach Hudsons Tod veröffentlichte sie das Buch My Husband, Rock Hudson. Erkrankung und Tod Rock Hudson war einer der ersten Prominenten und der erste Hollywood-Star, der an den Folgen von AIDS starb, was eine entsprechende Medienaufmerksamkeit für das Thema mit sich brachte. Sein letzter Fernsehauftritt war eine Rolle als Gaststar in der Fernsehserie Denver-Clan von Dezember 1984 bis April 1985. Am 21. März 1925 in Heydekrug, Memelland; ? 12. Mai 2014) war eine deutsche Filmschauspielerin, die auch in England und Hollywood erfolgreich war. Sie studierte 1945/1946 zwei Semester Medizin an der Universität Göttingen und besuchte danach zwei Jahre eine Schauspielschule. Regisseur Arthur Maria Rabenalt brachte sie im Dezember 1948 zum Film. Rabenalt ließ sie bereits in ihren ersten Filmen unter dem Namen Cornell Borchers, unter dem sie später auch in Hollywood und England bekannt wurde, auftreten. Diese waren Anonyme Briefe und Martina. Der dritte Film der Borchers, die 1949 im zerbombten Berlin gedrehte deutsch-amerikanische Koproduktion The Big Lift, in der sie unter dem Pseudonym Cornella Burch als Partnerin von Montgomery Clift spielte,[3] ebnete ihr den Weg zu einer internationalen Filmkarriere. Doch zunächst hatte sie nach kurzem erfolglosem Engagement bei der 20th Century Fox[4] überwiegend Rollen in deutschen Produktionen. Nachdem sie 1955 für ihre Rolle als Adoptivmutter Inga Hartl in Das geteilte Herz mit dem British Film Academy Award als beste ausländische Darstellerin ausgezeichnet worden war, kamen nun auch wieder Angebote aus Hollywood, wo sie von den Universal Studios als Neuentdeckung aufgenommen wurde. Hier spielte sie u. a. mit Rock Hudson und Errol Flynn in Melodramen wie Nur du allein und Istanbul. Der deutsche Film bot ihr Rollen im Heimatfilmbereich wie 1956 in Rot ist die Liebe als Jugendliebe des Heidedichters Hermann Löns, der hier von Dieter Borsche dargestellt wurde. Cornell Borchers, zunächst mit dem Engländer Bruce Cunningham verheiratet, heiratete in zweiter Ehe den deutschen Filmproduzenten Toni Schelkopf. One script, a Final Draft, belonging to an auditioning actor, Jenny Sullivan, with her name in manuscript ink on the front wrapper; the other script is bound in red faux leather with gilt tiles, a color photograph of a human fetus bound in, and both scripts bear letters from a professor at the University of California describing the possible methods and techniques detailed in the screenplay, and their applicability to contemporary (1974) ethical and legal conditions. Brief annotations on laid-in slips in manuscript ink throughout the first script. Laid in is a signed letter from director Nelson to Jenny, informing her that she is a finalist for the role of Victoria (ultimatly the role went to Barbara Carrera). She later described this expedition in "Voyage d'une femme au Spitzberg" (1854). Leonie later received notoriety when her affair with Victor Hugo was exposed for which she was imprisoned. The author describes the Arctic pole, the Esquimaux, the area north of Hudson Bay, about Greenland, gives location and how to arrive through Davis Strait and Baffin Baie, about the naming of Greenland, the climate, what the people do for work, and their physical description, how short they are "few taller than five feet", "religion in Greenland is a mix of Christianity and paganism". The population is about 10,000. Spitzbergen - talks about the name, indicates that winters in Spitzbegen are excessive and rigorous. An 18-year-old Parisian girl travelling under the name Mme. Biard (1820-1879; ne Lonie d'Aunet) undertook a journey to Spitzbergen in 1838 together with her husband, the artist Francois Biard. He in turn was taking part in the Gaimard expedition to Spitsbergen in the same year. The route home went via Norwegian Finnmark and the Swedish side of the Torne Valley. Five years after the journey, she met the author Victor Hugo, and became his mistress. After two years the affair became publicly known, when the two were caught red-handed. Lonie was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, while Hugo was let off more lightly. The relationship lasted until the coup d'tat in 1851, (The French coup d'tat of 2 December 1851 was a self-coup staged by Prince Louis-Napolon Bonaparte, at the time President of the French Second Republic'.), when Victor Hugo left France. In 1854 Lonie's book about the journey of 1838 was published, and in the next thirty years, it was reprinted no less than nine times. The book is in the form of a letter to her brother, Lon de Boynest. On 19 June at four in the afternoon, having rounded God knows how many points, passed thousands of islands and missed innumerable rocks, we reached the Arctic Circle. As you surely know, it lies at latitude 66 degrees north. When you approach the Arctic Circle the mountains become even higher and steeper. The snow, which at Trondheim lay spread in patches, eventually covers all the mountainsides, the vegetation becomes sparser; you see only stunted birches here and there, and lichen which with its thin root-fibres manages to cling on to the ice-eroded mountain rock. Susan Elizabeth Drake Sears married Richard Sears in 1913 and the couple lived in the Boston area. Photographs may be from the Boston environs, or the Hudson River area, as the album came from Millbrook NY and one photo is captioned "H. Rare original carbon typescript of the novel Pylon,Âwith title in ink in the author's hand on the first page, a few leaves repaginated in the author's hand, 344 pages, each of the six chapters held together with a paper clip, [Oxford, Mississippi, ca. December 1934]. Newly discovered by the family and one of only two known typescripts of Pylon, it is the only one left entirely as Faulkner wrote it and is the only one in private hands. William Faulkner's retained unedited carbon typescript of his 1935 aviation novel, Pylon. This copy corresponds to the typescript setting copy in the collection of the Alderman Library, University of Virginia. The present copy is important in that it shows Faulkner's text in its unedited state. In his introduction to the facsimile of the typesetting copy, Noel Polk writes, "According to Faulkner's date on the final page of the holograph manuscript at the University of Mississippi, he completed the writing on November 26, 1934; but he had already sent [publisher Harrison] Smith the typescript of the first chapter before November 5, the second by November 23, and the third by November 30; the fourth bears the editorial date 12/5, the fifth 12/10, and the sixth and seventh 12/15. As was to the case with Absalom, Pylon underwent extensive editorial alteration. As the typescript setting copy ⦠demonstrates, editors bowlerized and 'normalized' the deliberate strangeness of the syntax and language and made hundreds of other rather arbitrary changes in the text. Smith, who spent a week in Oxford with Faulkner going over the galleys, had made many further editorial changes on them. The galleys, which were set beginning January 8, record both Faulkner's acquiescence to many of Smith's changes, his attempts to restore the original wording and punctuation, and numerous attempts to repair damage that Smith had done. Pylon was published on March 25, 1935."The incomplete 151-page autograph manuscript of the novel is in the collection of the University of Mississippi. The typescript setting copy at the University of Virginia and the present carbon typescript are the only known complete typescripts of the text. Corrected galley proofs are held by the Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas. Noel Polk based his 1985 corrected text (Library of America) on the Alderman Library typescript. As Faulkner told students at the University of Virginia in the 1960's, he wrote Pylon as a respite from the complications involved in writing Absalom, Absalom! The novel was written at great speed at the end of 1934. It has been called Faulkner's most self-consciously "modernistic" work, abounding in descriptions of aviators and their machines, runways, and art deco air terminals. Aside from the frequent references to Shakespeare in the novel, Faulkner takes pains to pay tribute to his modernist heroes James Joyce (in the second chapter, "An Evening in New Valois") and T. S. Eliot (throughout the novel, but especially in the penultimate chapter, "Lovesong of J. A. Prufrock"). Pylon is one of Faulkner's few non-Yoknapatawpha novels and is based on the festivities and air shows at New Orleans's newly built Shushan Airport, held to coincide with Mardi Gras, February 1934. In very good condition with the first leaf darkened and with paper loss at edges (some text lost in lower right corner), rust stain in upper right corner of chapters 1â"4, creasing and spotting to scattered leaves. This carbon typescript, newly discovered by the family and one of only two known typescripts of Pylon, is the only one left entirely as Faulkner wrote it and is the only one in private hands. A novel at once sympathetic and explosive, Faulkner's Pylon is inhabited by characters still strange to the world today - a reckless and indomitable group of barnstormers performing in an unconventional flying circus.
