Sehr gutes Ex. - Englisch. // INHALT : INTRODUCTION -- CHAPTER ONE -- THE NEW ART -- CHAPTER TWO -- A VIBRANT POPULIST ENTERPRISE -- CHAPTER THREE -- ALL THE WORLD UNDER THE SUBJUGATION OF ART -- CHAPTER FOUR -- A FINE ART AND A MANUFACTURING ART -- CHAPTER FIVE -- THE COSMOPOLITAN ARCHIVE -- CHAPTER SIX -- BEING CONTEMPORARY -- CHAPTER SEVEN -- THE NATIONAL COLLECTION OF THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY -- CHAPTER EIGHT -- FOND WRESTLERS WITH PHOTOGRAPHY -- ABBREVIATIONS AND NOTES -- INDEX. // THE V & A PHOTOGRAPHY Collection is one of the earliest in existence, dating back to the foundation of the Museum in the 1850s. Through 100 of its most important photographs, this book tells the fascinating story of how the new medium of photography was embraced by a new kind of museum, which concerned itself with the arts of everyday life and with a large popular audience. Illustrations and text show how photography was perceived initially as art, then later as a powerful means of communication offering a compelling window on the world and still later - from the 1960s - as a fashionable art medium once again. Its shifting identity is vividly demonstrated by the work of such highly acclaimed and diverse talents as Julia Margaret Cameron, Edward Steichen, Eugene Atget, Man Ray, Bill Brandt, David Bailey and Chris Killip. Photography: An Independent Art is both a history of photography and a guide to appreciating fine photographs. It is also a remarkable account of photography's changing status as a collectable medium. (Verlagstext) ISBN 1851772057 Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 1550.

In den WarenkorbTaschenbuch. Kartoniert. Zustand: Gut. Taschenbucherstausgabe. 369 (15) 12 Blatt mit 25 Photographien von Brassaï auf Kunstdruckpapier. 18 cm. Umschlagentwurf: Jan Buchholz und Reni Hinsch. Guter Zustand. - Brassaï (bürgerlich Gyula Halász; * 9. September 1899 in Kronstadt/Brassó, heute rumänisch Bra?ov, damals Österreich-Ungarn, heute Rumänien; 7. Brassaï selber sagte dazu: There are many photographs which are full of life but which are confusing and difficult to remember. It is the force of an image which matters. . . . . Aus: wikipedia-Brassaï. In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. What is a photograph all about? This classic book focuses on what - both visually and artistically - is produced, not how it is produced. The contents combine insightful text with photographs taken by some of the world's finest photographers; including many examples of the author's own work, as well as that of the likes of Bill Brandt and Fay Godwin. Initially covering basic aspects, such as how the camera sees and how to read photographs, the book moves on to a discussion of contemporary attitudes to photography and an analysis of the different approaches taken by photographers to various subjects. In this fully updated and revised edition of a seminal book, Professor Paul Hill examines photographic imagery and the medium in general, looks at photographs as modes of expression, and gives thoughts on how to view them as artworks and forms of visual communication. As a result, it is essential reading for all students of photography Revised edition of a category classic, fully expanded and updated - originally published in 1982 by Focal Press. In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. This is the first book to tell the story of British photography as a coherent whole, from the pioneers of the early nineteenth century to photographers today who may display their images on websites, as projections, on computer screens or on i-Pods. The authors have travelled the length and breadth of the UK, researching both well-known and forgotten ouevres and uncovering many lost masterpieces. As well as the famous names - William Henry Fox Talbot, Lewis Carroll, Julia Margaret Cameron, Bill Brandt, Madame Yeronde, Angus McBean, Susan Lipper and Tom Hunter among them - they have examined post-cards, family albums, photographic illustrations in books, medical photographs, war-time propoganda and social documents. Previous imbalances in the available history of photography have been corrected, not least by the inclusion of women photographers and photographers from Britain's ethnic minorities. Through their exhaustive research the authors demonstrate the extraordinary range and diversity of roles that photography has played in British cultural life over the past one and half centuries. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
