Printed grey paper wraps., Text was composed in Baghdad in AH 1278/AD 1861-62. The Kitáb-i-Íqán (The Book of Certitude) is one of many books held sacred by followers of the Bahá'í Faith; it is the second most important work after The Most Holy Book the Kitab-i-Aqdas by the pen of Baha?u?llah. The work was composed partly in Persian and partly in Arabic in 1861 when He was living as an exile in Baghdad, then a province of the Ottoman Empire. The Íqán constitutes a major theological work of Bahá'u'lláh, and hence of the Bahá'í Faith. It is sometimes referred to as the completion of the Persian Bayán by The Bab (the forerunner of Baha?u?llah). When it was lithographed in Bombay in 1882, it was the first work of Baháí scripture to be published. It was first translated into English in 1904, one of the first works of Bahá'u'lláh to appear in English. Shoghi Effendi (Baha?u?llah?s great grandson), who retranslated the work into English in 1931, referred to the work as follows: A model of Persian prose, of a style at once original, chaste and vigorous, and remarkably lucid, both cogent in argument and matchless in its irresistible eloquence, this Book, setting forth in outline the Grand Redemptive Scheme of God, occupies a position unequalled by any work in the entire range of Baháí literature, except the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, Bahá'u'lláh's Most Holy Book. This book is written in response to the uncle of the Báb, ?ájí Mírzá Siyyid Mu?ammad. He had been perplexed to hear that the promised one of the Islam was his own nephew. When he was told that this was the same objection voiced by the uncle of the prophet of Islam, he was shaken and decided to investigate the matter. In 1861 he traveled to Karbila, Iraq, to visit his brother, ?ájí Mírzá ?asan-Alí, and then went to Baghdad to meet Bahá'u'lláh. There he posed four questions about the signs of the appearance of the promised one in writing to Bahá'u'lláh. The 200 pages (in original languages) of the Kitáb-i-Íqán were written in the course of at most two days and two nights., Size : 8vo.(215 x 140 mm). , Text in Persian. Good example. Spine defective, text block detaching. Interior and text are clean and crisp.

Buch
689 S., broschiert. Zustand: Wie neu.

Presentation binding. Gilt-decorated black paper boards, rebacked in black leatherette. Flat spine with gilt bands and motifs. , Text in Persian. It was published with the permission of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha?is of Iran and supervision of the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha?is of Tehran. The original book was written in 50 B.E. (1311AH) (1893). It was published from the manuscript copy. The original book was provided by the daughter of Zaynu'l-Muqarrabín, Mrs.Hoviyyeh Farzad Asdaq from her father?s library (Ibn-i-Asdaq).Mullá Zaynul-?Ábidín (May 1818 ? 1903) was a prominent Iranian Bahá?í who served as a secretary to Bahá?u'lláh, was listed by Shoghi Effendi as one of nineteen Apostles of Bahá?u'lláh, and biographied by ?Abdu'l-Bahá in Memorials of the Faithful With a background as an Islamic jurist, he posed the clarifying legal questions to Bahá?u'lláh about the Kitáb-i-Aqdas that became the supplement "Questions and Answers" now published along with the original text. His arrangement of the Hidden Words, another major work of Bahá?u'lláh, became the numbered order that is now currently used by Bahá?ís. Zaynu'l-Muqarrabín was known for transcribing, illuminating, and copying numerous writings of Bahá?u'lláh. Bahá?u'lláh gave him the title Zaynu'l-Muqarrabín ('The Ornament of the Near Ones'), the name for which he is known to Bahá?ís.Mírzá ?Alí-Mu?ammad-i-K?hurásání (Arabic: ????? ??? ???? ???????; b. 1830, d. 1928), known as Ibn-i-A?daq, was an eminent follower of Bahá?u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá?í Faith. He was appointed a Hand of the Cause and identified as one of the nineteen Apostles of Bahá?u'lláh. Ibn-i-Asdaq was addressed by Bahá?u'lláh as Shahíd Ibn-i-Shahíd (Martyr, son of the Martyr). He was the son of a distinguished martyr of the Bábí movement, and himself requested several times to give his life up for the Bahá?í Cause. The response by Bahá?u'lláh was, "Today, the greatest of all deeds is service to the Cause. This martyrdom is not confined to the destruction of life and the shedding of blood. A person enjoying the bounty of life may yet be recorded a martyr." (Eminent Bahá?ís, p. 172).In 1920, Ibn-i-Asdaq and Ahmad Yazdani, brought the Tablet to The Hague from ?Abdu'l-Bahá to the Central Organisation for Durable Peace in The Hague. Ironically, Ibn-i-Asdaq lived a long life of service, dying in 1928. He was one of the few Apostles to live into the time of Shoghi Effendi as the Guardian. , Size : 12mo.(170 x 105 mm), Very good example. Text in single column, 13 lines to a page. Illuminated title. Remaining pages with illuminated borders and catchwords in red.
