Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good+. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good+ dj. Illustrated by (dj design) John Alan Maxwell (illustrator). First Edition. [top front corner slightly bumped, one-time owner's name and date written at top of front endpaper; jacket shows just a bit of wear at extremities, tiny surface scrape at both ends of spine, itsy-bitsy paper loss at top rear hinge]. (endpaper maps) This "pulsating novel of adventure, revenge and exotic love in the West Indies of the seventeenth century, when the might of imperial Spain was making its last great stand to retain its conquests in the New World" tells the story of Kit Gerado's "lifelong search for the revenge on Don Luis del Toro, the Spanish grandee who had killed his mother and touched his life with unspeakable horror. It was a search that was to take Kit from the Old World to the New, from the buccaneer harbors of Sainte Domingue, Porto Bello and Cul-de-Sac to the gray, grim-walled city of Cartagena in Spanish South America." (I wonder if, when he finally catches up with Don Luis, he delivers the line: "My name is Kit Gerado. You killed my mother. Prepare to die.") This was Yerby's third novel, and the second of his books to be made into a movie (with the same title); released by Columbia Pictures in 1952, it starred Sterling Hayden and Rhonda Fleming.

8vo. pp. 224. Original publisher's green cloth lettered gilt on spine. Dust jacket. Presentation copy on title-page from the author's son (a publisher with Deautsch and later Leo Cooper): 'For Alan Peile from Tom Hartman 16. iii. 70'. Written on front free endpaper: 'Re-presented to Christopher Lee by Tom Hartman 2. viii. 82'. Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee, CBE, (1922 2015) was an English actor, singer, author, and World War II veteran. He was notably in 'The Wicker Man' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun' but is best known for his role as Count Dracula in a sequence of Hammer Horror films and later as Saruman in the 'Lord of the Rings' film trilogy. Hartman's autobiography describes his Edwardian childhood, schooldays at Eton, the experience of two World Wars, the failure of a family business and how he re-established his fortunes by way of the city, advertising, broadcasting, and finally as a publicist for Britain. Dust jacket a little rubbed and nicked at extremities. Slight rubbing, otherwise very good.

Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Magazines. Digests (12mos). Perfectbound in illustrated wrappers. Overall very good with moderate wear, some toning and contemporary tape reinforcement to the spine ends of the early issues. A nearly complete 32-year run of *Amazing Stories* totaling 203 issues (lacking 32), one of the longest-running science fiction anthologies*. Early issues feature a mix of fantasy and science fiction with contributions from many well-regarded writers such as Isaac Asimov, E.E. Smith, Jack Vance, Robert Bloch, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Harlan Ellison, Fritz Lieber, Robert Silverberg, Robert Heinlein, Dean Koontz, Frank Herbert, Alan Dean Foster, George R.R. Martin, and many others. A nice run of this important and influential science-fiction anthology.
