"Message to Adolf, Part 1" is the first of two volumes collecting Osamu Tezuka's epic wartime manga originally serialized in Japan between 1983 and 1985. The story intertwines the lives of three men named Adolf-one Jewish, one German-Japanese, and one Adolf Hitler-against the backdrop of World War II. Osamu Tezuka (19281989), creator of "Astro Boy" and "Phoenix," is widely regarded as the father of modern manga. The series won the 1986 Kodansha Manga Award for general manga and was first published in English by Cadence Books and VIZ before this definitive Vertical edition.
