So, instead of using poetry as a means of alleviating the angst of working in a disaster area, the author used poems to alleviate the angst of being the only son of Italian parents whose somewhat satirical sitcom-like life was dominated by his four feet eleven inches gray haired mother who easily could have been a prototype for the Sophia Petrillo character of 'The Golden Girls' sitcom. Most of the poems tell a story - about love, life, family, friends, and of growing old. Others touch on the philosophical, offer food for thought, or are amusing and just for fun.
