Third, each chapter closes by asking what difference the answer actually makes to a human life, because apologetics that never touches the heart has missed half the point of the exercise.I do not expect this book to convert anyone by force of syllogism alone. Nobody has ever been reasoned into love, and the Christian claim is ultimately a claim about a person, not merely a proposition. But I do believe, and this book is written from that belief, that the Christian faith has nothing to fear from thirty chapters of honest questions. The God who spoke the universe into being is not threatened by a graduate seminar, a laboratory, or a long night of doubt. He is, this book will argue at considerable length, the God who answers.
