It also searches how Manju Kapur's writings respond to the national and global theoretical perspectives and movements which attempt to address the epistemological and ontological questions of/about women. The essays in the book analyse all the major novels of Manju Kapur from different theoretical perspectives and argue that Manju Kapur is an advocate of the concept of a new woman, who can seek her ontological possibilities in the midst of the dominant and oppressive ideological structures of gender, sexuality, class, caste etc.
