Lowrie arrived in India in 1835, where he founded mission stations, schools, and hospitals, notably the Allahabad Mission Station and a Girls' School. In 1846, he played a key role in converting Punjab's first Muslim, Shaikh Ibrahim, and established the Lahore Mission. Lowrie retired in 1877, returning to Philadelphia, where he died in 1900.
