About The Author: Dr. L. Rathakrishnan is an Associate Professor at Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram since 2006. He has specialised in Rural Industries and Management, Human Resource Management, Environment and Resource Economics. He has published 57 papers in the above areas in refereed journals and edited books. To his credit, he has edited two books, organised national Seminars, workshop and symposium. He is rank holder at Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram and earned first Ph.D. degree from the Department of Economics, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. He served two years at French Institute of Pondicherry as an Economist and subsequently worked at Pondicherry University for more than seven years teaching economics and environmental studies. He has also served in ODANABARD projects, UGC and ICSSR projects in varies capacities. He is a member in 11 professional bodies and serving as N.S.S. programme officer at Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram. He was the recipient of UGC JRF (NET) fellowship to pursuer Ph.D. Programme and was awarded World Bank Fellowship for his Post Doctoral Research (PDR) at London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom. He was conferred with honorary fellowship (F.S.E.Sc.) from the Society for Environmental Sciences, India. He is also serving as and external examiner for various Universities of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry.
