The Delta is a dynamic landscape, constantly being reshaped by violent floods and earthquakes, by storms and currents in the Gulf of Alaska, and by the huge volume of silt ground from the mountains by glaciers and carried by the river to the sea. The Delta is dominated by the glacial Copper River, draining, over its 287-mile length (465 km), the fifth largest watershed in Alaska.
