About the book >.>.> It is actually a composite of contiguous deltas from all the waterways draining into the Gulf of Alaska between Cape St. Elias on the east… to the Heney Range on the west, near the fishing village of Cor-dova, a stretch of 70-odd miles (113 km). The Delta is a dynamic landscape, constantly being reshaped by violent floods and earthquakes, by storms and currents in the Gulf of Alaska, and by the huge volume of silt ground from the mountains by glaciers and carried by the river to the sea. The Delta is dominated by the glacial Copper River, draining, over its 287-mile length (465 km), the fifth largest watershed in Alaska. The Copper River begins in the interior of southcentral Alaska, In rolling boreal taiga forests of black spruce, white spruce, and birch, shadowed by spectacular peaks of the Alaska Range and Wrangell-St. Elias Moun-tains. This is a land of warm summers and deep, cold winters. Precipitation is low, about 11 inches (28 cm) a year. In this open, interior landscape, the Copper is joined by glacial trib.
