This handsome volume begins with the background story of his creation, then reprints the entire original novella. This is followed by Robinson's exploration of how the novella was turned into the film, which debuted in 1952, as well as background on the London people, places and things Chaplin drew upon in recreating that world on a Hollywood sound stage.
