Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. EDOARDO BIANCHI. Antonio Gentile. Vimodrone (Milano): Giorgio Nada Editore, 1992. First printing (colophon: printed June 1992 by Arti Grafiche Ubezzi & Dones): the original issue in yellow cloth with pictorial dust jacket (priced L. 90.000). Later reprints were issued in paper covers under the same ISBN. Parallel Italian and English text; English translation by Alasdair McEwen. Profusely illustrated with nearly 500 photographs and drawings, a few in colour. ISBN 88-7911-054-3. A history of the Bianchi company's motorcycles, cars, commercial vehicles and aero engines, with a biography of the founder, Edoardo Bianchi (1865-1946), who founded the firm in Milan in 1885. LOOSELY INSERTED: an autograph letter signed "Bunty Scott-Moncrieff", 2 pages on his printed letterhead (Rock Cottage, Basford Hall, Leek, Staffs.), dated "12th Jan '58" as written, to "Dear Clive". The writer is almost certainly David "Bunty" Scott-Moncrieff (c.1907-1987), the Leek-based dealer in vintage Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, self-styled "purveyor of horseless-carriages to the nobility and gentry", and author of Veteran and Edwardian Motor Cars (1955) and The Thoroughbred Motor Car 1930-40 (1963). He offers Clive one of "two late vintage 10.4 h.p. O.H.V. Bianchis" (1929 and 1930), both being restored, at around £125 each, recommending the two-seater with its completely rebuilt engine: "a little gem, most beautifully built". He also writes of selling his twelve-cylinder Hispano-Suiza and a 2 LTS Ballot to America, of Lancia Lambdas and a Lancia Artena, an open four-seater 4½ litre Bentley, a Jeep, a twin-cam Alfa Romeo "going spare", and of Avril's Cooper-Climax breaking a big-end bolt (Avril probably being his wife Averil, herself a club racing driver). CONDITION: Good+. Hardback in dust jacket. Strong binding, crisp pages. Previous owner's name to the paste-down. Some spotting to the last page of text. Dust jacket: Very Good. Not price-clipped; just slight edge rubbing. The letter: Good, with vertical and horizontal folds and marks to the backs of the leaves. …
