La obra se publicó de forma independiente en Madrid en 1609 por el impresor Luis Sánchez y tuvo varias reimpresiones.La obra de Zamora refleja el final de la corriente del humanismo renacentista y el comienzo del Barroco. Está escrita en lengua vulgar, lo que la diferencia de las obras renacentistas que utilizaban el latÃn como vehÃculo de conocimiento. Zamora fue un claro defensor de la utilización en los sermones y en los textos religiosos de los sabios de la Antigüedad para ilustrar la fe cristiana. Siguiendo a los humanistas del siglo XVI, creÃa que en las sentencias de los clásicos se podÃa rastrear la presencia de una intuición de la llegada del cristianismo, de una revelación paralela en los pueblos paganos, como habÃa afirmado, entre otros, Eusebio de Cesarea en su Praeparatio Evangelica. La obra podrÃamos enmarcarla dentro de los numerosos y populares sermonarios de la época, pero contando con un grado inusual de erudición clásica.The Cistercian Lorenzo de Zamora (c. 1554-1614) was one of the most important humanists of the transition from humanism to the Baroque. He was Lector of Sacred Scripture at that college and abbot of the monastery of Santa MarÃa de Huerta. Among his many published texts, the Mystical Monarchy of the Church, made up of hieroglyphs taken from human and divine letters, was the most important, ambitious and well-known work. The Book of the Flight into Egypt of Our Lady was initially conceived as a fragment of the Third Part of the Mystical Monarchy. The work was published independently in Madrid in 1609 by the printer Luis Sánchez and went through several reprints.Zamora's work reflects the end of Renaissance humanism and the beginning of the Baroque. It is written in the vulgar language, which distinguishes it from Renaissance works that used Latin as a vehicle of knowledge. Zamora was a clear advocate of the use in sermons and religious texts of the sages of Antiquity to illustrate the Christian faith. Following the humanists of the 16th century, he believed that in the sentences of the classics one could trace the presence of an intuition of the arrival of Christianity, of a parallel revelation in pagan peoples, as Eusebius of Caesarea, among others, had affirmed in his Praeparatio Evangelica.
