About The Author: Dipankar Sinha is Reader in Political Science Calcutta University and Honorary Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata. He has authored Communicating Development in the New World Order (1999), and (in Bengali) Media Sanskriti (2003). He has also coedited The Information, Communication and Technology: From Early to PostColonial India (2005). His essays have been published in edited volumes and journals from India and abroad. Kaberi Chakrabarti: Senior Lecturer, Department of Political Science, Calcutta University. Her areas of research and teaching include Communication Studies and Development Administration. Her most recent publication is a coauthored (with Mohit Bhattacharya) volume on Social Theory and Development Administration. Sobhanlas Datta Gupta: Surendra Nath Banerjee Professor of Political Science, University of Calcutta, and Coordinator, UGCsponsored DRS Programme in Political Science, Calcutta University. His prime area of research is Political Theory.
