Bhowmick (born 1955) did his M.A., in Rural Development in the year 1980. In the year 1988 he was awarded Ph.d. from I.I.T., Kharagpur. He was also awarded D. Litt.in the year 1998 from Ranchi University. At present he is Associate Professor in the Rural Development Centre, I.I.T., Kharagpur. Dr. Bhowmick has published articles related Tribal and Rural Development Programmes in reputed journals and also authored a few books. He is also coauthor of the book namely, Tribal Unrest and Tribal Movement (1994), Land and Forest: Twin Tribal Problems (1998). The author of several research paper Dr. Bhowmick has been interested in teaching, training and conducting researches among the rural and tribal communities.
