Since the beginning of the planning era of India the planners and policy makers are emphasising on the socio economic development of the underdeveloped areas that may grow at the same pace with overall development of the economy. Appropriate studies are lacking to answer all the questions related to this problem of Indian economy. The present book is an attempt to show the nature of spatial development in India during the plan period with an improved methodology that measures the extent and causes of socio economic disparities of its regions while indicating general level of development of the whole economy.
