Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -This publication is based on an illustrated talk presented by Luis E. Carranza. He is Professor at Roger Williams University, Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and Visiting Professor at Yale University's School of Architecture. He teaches architectural history and theory, leads design studios, and holds seminars on modern architecture and art in Latin America. The professional estate of Luis Barragán (1902-1988) has been in the care of the Barragan Foundation, located in Birsfelden near Basel, Switzerland, since 1996. The Foundation's primary focus is the preservation of the archival holdings and the study of Barragán's multi-faceted oeuvre. After partnering with the Vitra Design Museum in 2022, the Barragán Archive was relocated to the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany. In conjunction with the move, a permanent exhibition devoted to Luis Barragán and his work was established in the new Barragán Gallery at the same location. This cooperation also gave rise to the Barragán Lectures, a series of talks initiated by the Vitra Design Museum in collaboration with the Barragan Foundation, which contributes to the ongoing dis-course on the architect's legacy.Vitra Design Museum, Charles-Eames-Straße 2, 79576 Weil am Rhein 64 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -On Time and Experience reconsiders the work of Luis Barragán through sensorial engagement rather than iconic imagery. Originating in the inaugural Barragán Lecture at the Vitra Design Museum, it draws on archival materials to examine atmosphere, perception, and modern living. A book that invites readers not merely to look at architecture, but to experience it: On Time and Experience: Luis Barragán and Modern Living opens up an unfamiliar approach to one of the most fascinating bodies of work of the twentieth century.Rather than reproducing well-known images or iconic perspectives, Luis E. Carranza directs attention to those sensorial qualities that reveal themselves only through direct engagement with space and material. He explores how the built environment generates atmosphere - through light, color, texture, and intimacy - and demonstrates why these quiet, subtle experiences form the core of an architectural thinking that remains relevant today. 64 pp. Englisch.
