RSCTC2010wastoprovideresearchersandpractitionersinterestedineme- inginformationtechnologiesaforumtoshareinnovativetheories,methodologies, and applications in rough sets and its extensions. In keeping with the spirit of past rough set-based conferences, RSCTC 2010 aimed to explore synergies with other closely related areas such as computational intelligence, knowledgedisc- ery from databases and data mining, non-conventional models of computation, andWebmining.Majortopicscoveredintheseproceedingsinclude:approximate anduncertainreasoning,bioinformatics,dataandtextmining,dominance-based roughsetapproaches,evolutionarycomputing,fuzzysettheoryandapplications, logical and mathematical foundations of rough sets, perceptual systems as well as applications of rough sets and its extensions in areas such as medicine, Web intelligence and image processing. The papers included in the special and - dustrial sessions cover learning methods and mining of complex data, soft c- puting applications to multimedia and telemedicine, knowledge representation and exchange in multi-agent systems and emerging intelligent technologies in the telecommunications industry. There were 148 valid (out of 163 in total) submissions to RSCTC 2010. Every paper was examined by at least two reviewers. Out of the papers initially selected,somewereapprovedsubjecttorevisionandthenadditionallyevaluated.
